Our Deaconess Breast Evaluation team cares about your comfort and strives to provide you with a quality experience. With one-on-one personalized care from our experts, same day appointments and digital mammography that takes less than half the time of traditional film-based exams, you’ll be in and out in approximately 30 minutes.
Our dedicated Women’s Imaging Radiologists and Certified Mammography Technologists will provide you with the best possible care. We know that when it comes to your mammogram, comfort counts. We provide every patient with mammopads during screenings, which add some warmth and comfort to your experience. In addition, we provide you with educational materials, including videos, to answer any questions you might have.
Mammography Services at Deaconess

Digital mammography – Solid-state detectors (similar to those found in digital cameras) convert x-rays into electrical signals. The electrical signals are used to produce images of the breast that can be seen in full detail on a computer screen.

Stereotactic biopsy – This x-ray procedure uses multiple coordinates to precisely determine the location of a calcification or nodule, so that a tissue sample may be obtained.

Ultrasound – Ultrasound scanning or sonography involves using high-frequency sound waves to produce pictures of the inside of the body. Ultrasound imaging of the breast produces a picture of the internal structures of the breast.

Our technology
The Deaconess Breast Evaluation Center uses the Selenia™ digital mammography system from Hologic®, a leading developer of high quality digital imaging technology for general radiography and mammography applications. Selenia™ has the largest detector size in the industry and improved imaging on patients under 50 with fibrocystic breast tissue. Our mammography system offers:
- Full-field digital mammography – with exceptional image quality using direct capture and HTC grid technology
- Improved diagnostic sensitivity – for the early detection of breast cancer
- Computer-Aided Detection (CAD) – highlights abnormalities associated with breast cancer and flags them for Radiologists, effectively acting as a second set of eyes
